My project doesn’t aim to convey any specific meaning. I chose dumplings as the main subject because they are deeply connected to the culture of the place where I lived as a child. As for the keyframes, I came up with them simply by chance after watching a lot of animation references. Since my drawing skills aren’t very strong, I wanted to focus more on making the animation smooth and engaging.
This is one of the times I’ve had to do the most hand-drawing. With more than 130 drawings on paper, I spent over 10 hours completing all the sketches for this assignment. For someone whose drawing skills aren’t very strong like me, the first few drawings were a huge challenge.
For me, this was an amazing experience, I learned a lot about drawing and 2D animation, something I’ve always been curious about since I was young: how people create 2D animated films.
